It was brought to my attention that I haven’t provided any updates to the Ruth & Bob project.
The audio narration and music soundtrack has been completed. The duration of the plot (including title cards and closing credits) runs at 40 minutes. What is nice about it is that it could work simply as a story told in dialogue and music. The other aspect is how the 40 minutes flies past each time we have reviewed it. Hopefully others will feel the same.
The reason we did the audio first was to establish the narrative structure that includes all the pertinent plot elements. The completion of this sets up the timing for the music background and then the imagery. Had we tried to do it any other way it would take forever to complete.
There are 10 “chapters” in the story and as of today we have completed the imagery for 4 of them. This has really been the most time-consuming and difficult aspect of this project. The are many reasons for this not the least of which being that you have 5 minutes of audio and only 3 images associated with it. Digging deep into the bag of tricks to fill the visual space takes some time but has produced some interesting results.
So over the next several weeks the other chapters will be completed then a couple weeks spent tweaking and fine-tuning. We’re planning the premiere in late June.
