Creating and manipulating graphics is really beyond the scope of these pages. I'll speak a little about using images over in the Workshops area. If you are interested in creating/manipulating images here is a short list of software:

  1. Paint.NET
This program is free and is of the same level of expertise as the major image editors such as Paintshop Pro and Adobe PhotoShop. Paint.Net features layering, without which you cannot do professional graphics. Paint.Net is basically image and photo manipulation software designed to be used on computers that run on Windows XP or 2000.

  2. Paint Shop Pro
The best graphics shareware ever! If you use (Windows) and want to make custom graphics for your web pages, then this software has all you'll need.

  3. Adobe Photoshop/ImageReady
What can I say? This is the best visual creation software there is. It comes in both Windows and Mac versions, has a hefty price tag, and demands mucho RAM and power. The Photoshop/ImageReady package can do more than you'll ever need. You can download an evaluation version too.

  4. Macromedia Fireworks
Fireworks is the only web graphic design software you need! Fireworks' suite of text, design, illustration, image editing, URL, JavaScript, and animation tools can create everything for your web site, without jumping from application to application. Designers can optimize and preview final output in every popular format. You can download a fully functional 30 day trail version.
